Update 2.1 or 3.0?

My favorite ones are the version 2.0.1 or 3.2.1. Can’t they just number them like sequels?
It’s official

The first time was when I completed my Bachelor of Education. Today, I cross that stage to receive my Master of Educational Technology. I completed my course work and submitted my final project in August which was a feat of itself but at 12:30pm PST I will receive my parchment as I don my regalia with my new hood.
Since the completion in August, I have filled my time with coaching and doing the things I didn’t have time for over the last 3 years. I naively thought that I would somehow have more ‘free’ time but I was wrong. I am not the type of person that can ‘do nothing’; I need to be doing something. I suppose that I just have more time to do the things I enjoy.
I should stop here otherwise I’ll be late to my own party. A couple of pictures to come.
Comfort Food….

In about 45 minutes, my car received a nice layer of snow. In weather like this, it means it’s time to make something makes me warm from the inside out (and I’m not talking about having a scotch or snifter of brandy).
You know it’s autumn when…..

Meteorologically, it feels like winter. It is as if we went from summer with a few days of autumn then right into winter. There are only a few indicators that remind me it’s still autumn: the yellow, orange, and red leaves on the trees and ground; pumpkins everywhere; and the paraphernalia of Halloween. October is coming to an end very quickly but I feel like I’m still recovering from my Thanksgiving feast. During this two week recovery, what do I do? I cook and bake.

Canadian Thanksgiving has come and gone for another year. I have finally come to the conclusion that I have a love-hate relationship with this wonderful holiday: love the company and food but hate the fact I eat too much. I never learn though. I know this going into each and every Thanksgiving meal. I tell myself that it’s not going to happen but alas, it happens. Fortunately for me, we always have the family dinner with the “orphans” (aka our family friends) on the Sunday which means I have day of recovery before heading back to work.
Homegrown zucchini
Posted: September 23, 2011 Filed under: Food | Tags: baking, breakfast, easy, flax, hemp, hemp seed, protein, quick, recipe, recipes, soy milk, whole grains, zucchini 1 Comment »There’s nothing better than picking fresh produce from one’s own garden. I don’t have my own garden but my friends do. They grow rhubarb, kale, tomatoes, strawberries, herbs, and the inspiration for this next recipe, zucchini. I am blessed what we have the type of relationship where they provide me with the produce, I use their ingredients in my cooking and baking, and we can then share the fruits of our labours.
Good Bran Muffins….

I was taught at a young age never to lie. I found a recipe for bran muffins that are ACTUALLY good for you and taste good. So often we think that bran muffins are automatically good for us (the presence of the bran) and taste bad.
Vegan Pizza

I’m not a fan of thick, bready crusts. Not really into a ton of toppings or a lot of cheese. I like my crusts thin and crispy with a light dusting of cheese and topped with the best ingredients. My favorite type of pizza is a traditional thin crust Italian-style pizza, the kind you find in hole in the wall places all over Italy.
Another chapter….
Posted: August 4, 2011 Filed under: Good Things | Tags: accomplished, chapter, complete, development, inspirational, journey, next, profession, professional, success 3 Comments »Today is a momentous day for me. I have been on a 3 year journey of professional development. This journey has finally come to a close. I completed my graduating project today and the only left are a few revisions and approval for graduation. Awaiting for this approval is the only thing that holds me back from truly closing the book. Regardless of that, I have to say that when I hit the publish button of my ePortfolio for the Master of Educational Technology (MET) at UBC I was in awe. It was as if a weight had lifted and the time and energy that I placed into the last 3 years was all worth it.
